The Taj Mahal, located in Agra, India, is one of the most iconic monuments in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built between 1632 and 1648 by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, it was constructed in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. This white marble mausoleum is celebrated for its stunning architectural beauty, blending elements of Islamic, Persian, and Indian styles. Its most striking feature is the massive white dome, surrounded by four elegant minarets, all set within a vast, symmetrical Mughal garden.

The monument’s intricate marble inlay work, delicate carvings, and calligraphy showcase the finest craftsmanship of the Mughal era. Inside, visitors can see the ornate cenotaphs of Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan, while their actual tombs lie in a lower chamber. The Taj Mahal is especially admired for the way its appearance changes with the light—glowing pink in the early morning, shining white in the afternoon, and casting a golden hue under moonlight.

Beyond its breathtaking beauty, the Taj Mahal stands as a timeless symbol of love and devotion. Drawing millions of visitors annually, it continues to be a powerful representation of India’s rich cultural and architectural heritage.

Unbelievable in person! Tour with a knowledgeable guide!

A group of four of us toured at sunrise on a Sunday with Gupta -- a fantastic guide-historian, and his knowledge added many levels of understanding to the experience! We could not believe our eyes upon seeing the craftsmanship and symmetry that was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Be sure to see the interior as well as every side of the exterior. The pool in front had been drained, and some restoration work was being done, but it didn't affect our experience. Truly a wonder and a must-see once in a lifetime!

Simply Magnificent

What a magnificent construction made by Emperor Shah Jahan in the love of his wife Mum Taj. Till date one of the most beautiful monument in the world. The Taj dont need more descriptions. A day trip from Delhi is enough for tourist to enjoy the Taj. Just avoid the summers as it becomes too hot.

A must visit place for everyone

As kids, we all have dreamt of visiting the Taj Mahal once, and today, finally it’s a dream come true for me. As soon as I cross the red gate, I finally saw the beautiful white marble monument. It's a long walk to reach the Taj Mahal but every step is worth it. As I get inside, the hard work of laborers was clearly visible. Every piece of marble had either some beautiful carvings or paintings on it. The love Shah Jahan had for Mumtaz was clearly felt. There are 22 pillars around the monument because it is said that it took 22 years to build this 7th wonder. It’s a gigantic monument with the scenery at every corner. As I reached the back side, the view got more beautiful. The river Yamuna flows behind the Mahal. It’s more beautiful than we have seen in our books and other photos. Beside the Mahal is the red mosque. It’s a must-visit place for you, at least once in your lifetime. It gives you chills as you reach closer and closer. I had a great trip and I wish you all the same.
